Crew Leads lead all of our SEED, DIRT, & ROOT Crews during the summer program.

Summer Crew Leads are focused on leading youth through hands-on activities to develop their skills and abilities to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

What a Crew Lead Does...

Agriculture: Lead youth through hands-on farm tasks and coordinated lessons.
Leadership Development: Facilitate activities with the youth to develop their leadership skills.
Behavior Management & Farm Safety: Ensure the youth are maintaining a safe physical, social, and emotional environment for themselves and their peers.

About the Position

Crew Leads will be working outside at the farm, helping to manage behaviors and ensuring the safety of our youth employees (ages 14-18). Crew Leads will participate in training from May 22nd to May 31st, 2025, and then lead the youth through a seven-week program from June 03rd to July 19th, 2025 (Holiday breaks on June 19th and July 4th & 5th); we run on a Tuesday to Saturday schedule. As part of a dynamic team, you will lead your crew in various tasks, from weeding and planting to “real talk” discussions on urban agriculture and food sovereignty. Think of it as a summer camp counselor on a farm! Ideal candidates are team players who enjoy problem-solving, hard work, and playing in the dirt!

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, prospective candidates must:

Be 19+ Years Old
Marion County Resident
Have a form of reliable transportation to and from work
Experience with youth
Be available for the full term of employment

Dates

Crew Lead Training: May 22, 2025 to May 31, 2025
Program Dates: June 03, 2025 - July 19, 2025

Compensation:

All Seed Crew members will work approximately 35-40 hours a week and be paid $15/hour.
